A toxic, Web surrounds the Norwegian village of Tuntre, keeping the residents isolated and terrified as it grows. Ingrid Hansen ran into the Web as a child and it scared her face. The village people avoid her out of fear she may be contagious and because she reminds them of the thing that keeps them trapped. As high school nears its end, and a future as miserable as her past lays before her, a mysterious journal appears that is written to Ingrid specifically. The strange diary states that Ingrid is the origin of the Web – and she alone can set her town free. Now, with her only friends by her side, Ingrid leaves the protected village to find out what’s in the beyond. If she’s the cause of the Web, maybe she can end its power over her people.
This story leads Ingrid and her friends to some characters from Norse mythology and into a realm beyond her own with a twist. Is it reality, virtual reality, or a tale Ingrid crafted from her imagination?

Carla was always fascinated with Vikings and Norway. The story for this book began as a web of lies that no one could escape until they told the truth, but it morphed into more a sci-fi virtual reality experience. Carla hadn’t seen any of the Marvel movies with Loki or Thor for inspiration, but realized some of her ideas mirrored theirs after she finally watched them.
She visited Norway after the story began to weave inside her head and used the new adventure to help with some details of the tale. Neil Gaiman’s book, Norse Mythology, helped her decide which Viking mythological characters to include in this strange tale.
